Modern Research Uses

Papain enzyme used in digestive enzyme supplements; extracts studied for wound healing, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity; investigated for dengue-associated thrombocytopenia.

Mechanism of Action

Papain and chymopapain break down proteins to improve digestion; flavonoids and carotenoids reduce oxidative stress; leaf extracts may stimulate platelet production.
