Stachytarpheta jamaicensis

Exhibits anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects by reducing inflammtory mediators and scavenging reactive oxygen species; there is inhbition of the production of pro-inflammatory mediators (eg. cytokines and prostaglandins), leading to a decreasee in the inflammatory signaling and tissue irritation; the plant's flavonoid compounds scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) and enhance antioxidant defenses, supporting cells from oxidative damage
